Six Alien Landscapes on Planet Earth

Do you wish to travel the whole planet Earth? If so, you would really be overwhelmed with the extreme beauty that is hidden in almost every corner of it. Travelling the whole planet is like travelling the outer space. Really... I will show you hypnotizing landscape images. These landscapes look extraterrestrial, but whether you believe it or not, they all could be found on our own planet itself, Earth. You may not believe that they really exist; but they really do!

Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni (or Salar de Tunupa) is best known as the world's largest salt flat. It is located in the Potosi and Oruro departments in southwest Bolivia , near the crest of the Andes, and is elevated 3,656 meters above mean sea level. It is such a fantasy world. It is a very immense and wonderful place to behold. From a distance, it looks like a wide white still sea.

The Salar was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. It is covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with the average altitude variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar.

Geyser Hot Springs in Nevada, USA

Fly Geyser, also known as Fly Ranch Geyser is a small man-made geothermal geyser that is located approximately 20 miles north of Gerlach, in Washoe Country, Nevada. This was created accidentally in 1964 from a geothermal test well inadequately cappedIts glorious color of multiple hues of green and red that adds to its fascinating appearance is due to thermophilic algae thriving in the extreme micro-climate of the geysers. But a view from afar is all you can attempt because the place is not open to public. There is a high fence and a locked gate with several metal spokes on the top to keep trespassers out. Though several organizations have tried to purchase the land for conservation, and make it open to the public, the owner resolutely refused.

White Desert in Egypt

White Desert (known as Sahara el Beyda, with the word sahara meaning a desert) is the main geographic attraction of Farafra. It is located 45 km north of Farafara. It has a white, cream color and has massive chalk rock formations that have been created as a result of occasional sandstorm in the area. The Farafra desert is a typical place visited by some schools in Egypt, as a location for camping trips. The Desert was also the featured location in the music video for "Echoes" by the Klaxons.

'Chocolate Hills' in Bohol, Philippines

The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological formation in Bohol province, Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres. They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name. They look like giant mole hills. Others even describe them as "women's breasts".
The 'Chocolate Hills' on the island of Bohol in the Philippines get their name because the 1,700 naturally
formed mounds are covered with chocolate brown grass in the dry season

Vermilion Cliffs in U.S.

The Vermilion Cliffs are the second "step" up in the five-step Grand Staircase of the Colorado Plateau. Reddish or vermilion-colored cliffs are found along U.S. Highway 89 and U.S. Highway 89A near Kanab, Utah (and near Navajo Bridge in Arizona). These are made up of deposited silt and desert dunes, cemented by infiltrated carbonates and intensely colored by red iron oxide and other minerals, particularly bluish manganese. In the spring, after a good winter rain, the valley between Highway 89 and the Vermilion Cliffs will be covered with a carpet of desert mallow and other spring flowers. It is such a wonderful place to explore!

Richat Structure in Mauritania

The Richat Structure, also known as the Eye of the Sahara and Guelb er Richat, is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara desert of west–central Mauritania near Ouadane. This structure is a deeply eroded, slightly elliptical, 40-km in diameter, dome. The sedimentary rock exposed in this dome range in age from Late Proterozoic within the center of the dome to Ordovician sandstone around its edges. It has attracted attention since the earliest space missions because it forms a conspicuous bull's-eye in the otherwise rather featureless expanse of desert. It is initially interpreted as an asteroid impact structure because of its high degree of circularity; it is now argued to be a highly symmetrical and deeply eroded geologic dome.

it is now known to be a volcanic bulge that never erupted and was leveled by erosion

Family with Hypertrichosis

A story of a Nepalese family touched my heart and made me realize that if there are people who are so blessed in almost every aspect of their lives, there are also those who seem to be cursed. Their story circles around their journey, with the hope that there would be a concern citizen who would help them cure their rare condition.

This family suffers from what is called as Hypertrichosis, also known as Ambras Syndrome. Hypertrichosis is an abnormal amount of hair growth on the body. Extensive cases of hypertrichosis have informally been called werewolf syndromeIt has two distinct types: generalized hypertrichosis, which occurs over the entire body, and localized hypertrichosis, which is restricted to a certain area.

The family had been teased for their condition; so they traveled to Kathmandu, their country's capital, to look for assistance for the cure of this congenital condition.

With the consultation they attended, they found out that they could be cured by a laser therapy. This gave them hope that, at least, they could still live life normally -free from constant taunts from others.

"My children have talked about the new life ever since we received the word the hospital is going to treat us."
"My son has told his friends that he will be back with a new face and they can no longer tease him."

They are only among those who feel so intimidated and scorned because of their "peculiarity". They often become the subject of mockery. For sure, if they could only choose, they would not want to be like that. It's a great lesson for every one of us. We should realize that even if sometimes we feel that life is unfair, still we have to be thankful because we are more blessed for we are given such kind of life --a life that is far better than others'. Aside from that, we should also learn to understand and respect what we see in others as "different from the rest". We must put ourselves in their shoe instead of teasing or mocking them. At least we could help them feel that they are accepted and that they are not different.

Things You Should Know About Coffee

Are you a coffee drinker? Well, you must check this out!
Things you should know about coffee!!! Learn, learn, learn...

1. Ethiopian shepherds first noticed the effects of caffeine when they saw their goats appearing to become frisky and dance after eating coffee berries.
2. Coffee was eaten. African tribes mixed coffee berries with fat which formed edible energy balls.
3. The rise of Islam contributed greatly to the popularity of coffee. The religion prohibited drinking alcohol, but coffee was considered an acceptable drink.
4. All coffee in the world grows in the Bean Belt, an area between Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. 5. Hawaii is the only state in the US that grows coffee.
6.  In 1675, the King of England banned coffee houses, claiming they were places where people met to conspire against him.
7. 70% of the world consumes Arabica coffee, which is mild and aromatic. The remaining 30% drinks Robusta, which is more bitter-tasting but has 50% more caffeine than Arabica.

8. Coffee grows up to 30 feet tall, but is cultivated to be around 10 feet (3 meters) tall for easy-picking.
9. Coffee is the second most traded commodity on earth. Oil is the first.
10. Coffee berries are picked,  dried and stripped down until all that's left is a green bean. Once shipped, the beans are roasted at around 500F. After a few minutes, the bean will pop and double in size. A few minutes after that, the bean will pop once more. The second pop means the bean is done. The bean is now ready to fulfill its destiny...
11. George Washington invented instant coffee in 1906.
12. Espresso is not a particular type of bean, roast or blend. It is just a way that coffee is prepared.
13. The term "Americano" comes from America GIs during WWII. They would order espresso with water to dilute the strong flavor.
14. Furthermore, the term "cup of joe" comes from American serviceman (GI Joes) in WWII being seen as big coffee drinkers.
15. (How does caffeine work?) In your brain there is something called Adenosine and it only wants to hang out with certain receptors. When these two get together, you get drowsy. When caffeine show up, it attaches to the receptors so that Adenosine cannot. Your pituitary gland sees this and thinks there's an emergency, so it tells the adrenal glands to produce adrenalin. In addition, caffeine bumps up your dopamine levels.(And what is the result?) As a result, you become a caffeine high...

Amazing 3D Optical Illusion

Perhaps you have read more about chalk drawings before and for sure you already viewed pictures of this sort of visual art. Chalk drawings had developed in the past and evolved as time passed by. These photos show the creativity of the man in the name of Joe Hill. He exactly created a dangerous looking scene in this amazing chalk drawing. He appears to be jumping off a very tall building.

It's cool and amazing!

Emotional Eggs--Cute!

Eggs! Eggs! Eggs! I really love eggs especially when they are served for breakfast. Because of fondness of eggs, these photos caught my attention and made me think what eggs might feel (if they could only feel) when they are hatched. The drawings on their surfaces reveal their "feelings". It's cute...
"Ouch! That hurts!"

"Oh no! Please don't! Huhuhu..."

"Oh my! I am chosen. Will this be my last?"

Sigh...

"hehehehehe.."

"Oh my God! How could that happen?"

"I'm afraid. I don't want to be fried...Huhuhuhu"

Having fun...
"hahaha!"

Cold war? lol

Home Sweet Home in Coober Pedy

Are there people living underground? Yes, there are, and they live comfortably there. Do you know where that is? Only in Coober Pedy!

Coober Pedy is a very small town in South Australia, about halfway between Adelaide and Alice Springs. It is referred to as the "opal capital of the world" because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there. It is notable for its below-ground residences, called "dugouts", which are built due to severe desert climate. The name 'Coober Pedy' comes from the local Aboriginal term kupa-piti, which means 'white man's hole'.

Coober Pedy is perhaps one of the rarest places in the world. A considerable number of people of varied nationalities are living there. It offers a relaxing, peaceful and unique lifestyle of underground living. Only there that you can see authentic underground homes as well as underground art galleries, opal mines, churches, hotels, and even a bookstore.

Below are photos taken from Coober Pedy. By just looking at them, you seem touring in the place.
